Choose the city beach for ease, or continue west and south for quieter coves.
Makarska’s central beach is the easiest introduction: a long, accessible curve backed by promenade life and shade. Continue west toward Biloševac and Cvitačka for a looser edge, or south toward Osejava for a more natural coast.
Most beaches are pebble rather than sand. Water shoes are optional, but useful for families. In July and August, early morning and late afternoon are dramatically more pleasant than the middle of the day.
